Day 938 – Clearance Wine


After I finished up at the gym…totally awesome session by the way! nearly two hours of climbing and then a super sweet sprint workout on the treadmill (did a mile in just over 11 minutes). I was so happy…..anyways….I had to grab a few things….wait, let me start a little earlier…

I was getting ready to leave for the gym and Bret mentioned we needed bread….I said, yea, we need toilet paper too….it’s probably going to snow. I said this without knowing the weather. After leaving the gym and getting hit with snow, I thought, hmmm, maybe I should play the lottery….but decided to just go to the store. I really didn’t feel like going to Wal-Mart…which would have given me the cheapest prices, but just a huge hassle. So, I ended up going to the Dollar Store. Why don’t I shop there more often?? Valkyrie and Brook’s Italian Lover

J and I met up with a friend last night for some entertainment (the UW Dance Faculty spring concert) and post-show cocktails. We couldn’t decide where to go and ended up at Merchant for our first round before settling in at Opus.

Merchant brought the foodie trend of quote-unquote “craft cocktails” to Madison. Opus has had a long and diverse list of cocktails for much longer, though with a bit less fuss, a bit more sweet, and lacking the earnestly retro, hipster chic that Merchant seems to strive for. That said, the best drink of the night was, in all of our opinions, Merchant’s Valkyrie. I was undecided about what to order, so our server asked what sorts of drinks I liked; I said vodka-based primarily but that I was also very open to others. My trip to Middle Earth

Just stumbled cross this great blogger, with great content. Check it out!


Me, before being a thirdeyemom, on the South Island of New Zealand, with Mount Cook across the aquamarine lake.

I always find it hard starting a new series of posts.   I find myself delaying that first step and sitting at my computer with that dreaded writer’s block trying to conjure up the enthusiasm for beginning anew.

My China posts were so easy and a pleasure to write for several reasons.  First of all, the trip was recent and fresh in my mind.  Second of all, I took over 800 pictures and kept meticulous pages of notes.  And last of all, I traveled with a blogger’s mindset and in particular, my “third-eye” approach.   I used my “third eye” to expand my horizon and search out things I wouldn’t normally see.  Thus, my trip to China was by far one of the most enriching trips I’ve taken and wound up…
